Computers Blow - Introduction

Welcome to Computers Blow by Brandon Low.

This is not an ordinary computer course. Ordinary computer courses teach you how to do a particular task, using the computer. I am not here to teach you how to use email, how to create a spreadsheet or how to "open the google". There are already dozens, if not hundreds, of courses out there that do this type of thing.

I am here to help you to understand how it is possible for these magical little boxes to do anything at all. In later lessons, I may also get into how all of the many little boxes around the world are connected and how it is possible for websites to do all of the magical things that they do.

In designing this course, I had to make some difficult choices about what base level to start from. The result is that for the main lessons, I will do my best to cover everything needed to understand the lesson.

I also decided to include some advanced topics at the ends of the lessons, which will require a stronger background in some field or fields, eg. physics or mathematics.

I'd like to thank Emily Katz for the inspiration for this course and for reminding me that computers are magic.
